Marita McCarthy-Real Graduates From Creighton University

Marita McCarthy-Real of Omaha was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree during Creighton University's winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 17, 2011, at the D.J. Sokol Arena in the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center on campus. University President Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., presided at the ceremony. Lannon, a 1973 graduate of the University, is the first alum to serve as president at Creighton. More than 260 degrees were conferred during Creighton University's winter commencement.

Special awards of recognition were given to people and organizations making a positive difference in the Omaha community. Connie Ryan, president of Streck, Inc., and a member of the Creighton Board of Directors since 2003, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree. The Cardiac Center of Creighton University received the University's Presidential Medallion.
